I have been doing some work for a client, and part of her
requirement was to write up the findings as a narrative. To illustrate the document the client lent me
photos of the family. Suddenly these
people who I had been studying came to life.
These people who had previously been just names and dates really came to
life as real human beings. Even though
they were not my relatives I loved being able to visualise them during their
life. In one case there were photos of
one person (still alive and aged 85) that covered her whole life. Even though I have never met this person (the
mother of my client), I can now recognise her even in the photos that are
unlabelled.
Being able to "get to know" the members of this
family at a different level has been a real treat for me.
(I have not included any copies of these photos as they are
not mine to make public)
